Italy on Rails is the first code journey through Italy, discovering hidden (ruby)gems while co-working on the move with other travellers and spending time with amazing people who work with Ruby anywhere in Italy. It will start on April 29th, 2016 and finish on May 13th (2 weeks).
People will travel together , working and visiting places.
In this first edition we will travel only through Italy, and have a very limited availability for travellers. We will accept only 6 people for the journey. Once the journey starts, participants will travel for free and we'll also cover food, accomodations and internet access.
We can't cover travel expenses for you to get here and back home, so that will be up to you.
It's about freedom, equality, work and private life balance, learning things and making friends while working on interesting problems. It's about the innate beauty of the Ruby language and of the people who love it.
This journey is not only an amazing way to travel through Italy (for free) and meet new friends without having to plan everything by yourself, altough that's a undoubtable benefit. It's also a way to contribute to a good cause. Non profit organizations are waiting for our help and the Italy on Rails participants will choose a project to work on while traveling, based on their free time (we don't want you to lag on your own work), skills and preferences. Also, you will meet people from various businesses who work with Ruby in various places, so this might be a chance to find a (better) job if you are interested.
Anyone! We're absolutely open to anyone. You don't need to be an expert and you don't even need to be a developer. Just wanna travel all around Italy while having fun with some new friends? You're welcome!
We hope to have travellers as diverse as possible because we strongly believe in diversity as a great vector of evolution and progress.
We proudly adopted the Contributor Covenant Code of Conduct and we require all participants to read it thoroughly.
If you feel unsure about travelling without a friend or have any concern about your safety, please write us and we'll do our best to address any issue.
If you are interested or just want some more informations, write us at firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up to our newsletter. There will be only 6 seats on this journey, and we'll select participants based on their background, skills and especially their motivation. You can also use the form here to send your applications.
If you have a non-profit project (it doesn't have to be all about software, at all) or know someone who can be interested in getting our help, this is the link you want to click!
You are not forced to travel for the whole two weeks, but people who can will be preferred so the team will be more strong. If you can work remotely, you won't need to worry. A power plug and internet access will be always available for you to continue working while traveling with us.
